Like the windsurfing world champion Pierre Mortefon, it might be time to re-grip your board.
Nautix Grip is a two component translucent paint developed and produced by Nautix in France.
Its components, including the shape of the ball, and its resistance to abrasion have been designed for intensive windsurfing. Today, it is the reference product for board refit. Nautix Grip can be applied over epoxy or ASA.
• Clean / degrease the surface with a degreaser
• Sanding with P120
• Rinse with clean water and allow to dry
• Select a short-haired roller such as a primer roller
• Before application and before each pass, wring out the Nautix Grip on the tray
• Apply a thin layer, criss-crossing for a perfect finish. Don’t try to make it thick
• Spray application is possible by a professional
Nautix tip
To ensure the success of your application, we recommend that you carry out a preliminary test on a piece of wood.
If you make clumps of beads when applying, you are applying too much paint. Either the roller is not the right one, or you have not wrung out the roller enough on the tray, or you are applying too thick. Do not apply too thinly either as the bead will no longer be held in the resin and the effectiveness of the product will quickly disappear.
Be careful on some coloured boards, especially in ASA, the Nautix Grip can discolour the surface. Do a test beforehand.
